เมื่อเดือนมีนาคมที่ผ่านมา สมาคมสถาปนิกสยาม ได้จัดงานสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการหัวข้อ “สถาปัตยกรรมหลังธรณีพิบัติสึนามิ” ในงานนี มัทเธอัส โฮลวิซ และไรเนอร์ วีสบาค สองสถาปนิกชาวเยอรมันจากสถาบันเบาเฮาส ์ ได้เข้าร่วมสัมมนาพร้อมด้วย อูลริช กลาเวอ นักภูมิศาสตร์กายภาพจากสถาบันเอไอที

โดยสมาคมสถาปนิกสยามจะรายงานสรุปผลการปฏิบัติการ ณ งาน “สถาปนิก’05” ในวันที่ 4-8 พฤษภาคม นี้

ในการนี้ สมาคมสถาปนิกสยามได้เสนอให้มีการสานต่อความร่วมมือกับสถาบันเบาเฮาส์ในด้าน “การพัฒนาเมืองใหญ่” โดยความร่วมมือกับ CODI หรือ สถาบันพัฒนาองค์กรเพื่อชุมชน โดยมุ่งเน้นการศึกษาและสนับสนุนให้เกิดมุมมอง ใหม่ในการจัดการย่านชุมชนแออัด ซึ่งสถาบันเบาเฮาส์จะมีส่วนร่วมในการ นําเอาประสบการณ์ระดับนานาชาติ เช่นในประเทศบราซิลและเชื่อมโยงเครือข่าย ทั่วทุกมุมโลกเพื่อให้โครงการประสบความสําเร็จสูงสุด

The Goethe-Institute Bangkok will show a photo exhibition by Finnish photographer Stephan Funke from Thursday, 28th April to Saturday, 28th May 2005. 35 images show a broad view on ballet, contemporary dance, drama and opera seen in Bangkok during the year 2004. At the opening ceremony a dance group lead by Dutch choreographer Glenn van der Hoff will perform a dance, leading guests through 3 stages into the exhibition.

The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, 28th April at 7.30 pm. The exhibition will be open Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m and Sunday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Stephan Funke is “Fellow of the Royal Photo-graphic Society of Great Britain“. He combines his love for theatre and photography in his photography. For the last nine years he has documented with his camera many perfor-mances on Bangkok’s stages. Among them, Crescent Moon Theatre’s version of “OEDIPUS”, or “FAUST” the co-production of the Goethe Institut, the Moradok Mai Theatre and the Inter-national Dance and Music Festival.

Still (s) Moving will be Stephan’s fourth exhibition at the Goethe-Institut. It re? ects recent events on Bangkok’s stages in 2004. It proves the active and creative life in the performing arts: drama, ballet, opera and contemporary dance.

Sophatai Kanthatham, Celine Horwang, Peeramon Chomdhawat will be dancing three of Glenn van der Hoff’s Solos at the opening ceremony: Still (s) Moving – Hommage of the performing artists to Stephan Funke. Dance, music and moving images will guide us through different emotions and spheres in three locations at the beautiful Goethe-Institut: SALA, GARDEN and ATRIUM.

In cooperation with the Siam City Hotel we will be presenting the internationally renowned Tuebingen Chamber Orchestra with works by Mozart, Vivaldi, H?ndel, Telemann and Saint-Sa?ns under conductor Gudni A. Emilsson, winner of the “Conductor Prize of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation”.

Soloists are Holger Bronner (Trumpet) from the Baden–Baden Symphonic Orchestra and Julia Galic (Violin), whose international credits include performances with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra and the Wuerttemberg Philharmonic Or-chestra. The orchestra has performed at the Olympic Games in Mexico, the US Bicentenary, and during the German Presi-dents’ of?cial visits worldwide.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok is exhibiting a series of 46 drawings by children who were imprisoned in the Nazi Concentration Camp of Theresienstadt (Terezin) during World War II.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on March 15th at 2 pm in the presence of the Ambas-sadors of Germany and the Czech Republic and Israel as well as Professor Henry Wilde, a survivor of Theresienstadt.

Theresienstadt is located in what is now the Czech Republic, and was part of the Nazi system of prison and death camps scattered over occupied Europe in World War II, where Jews, other ethnic minori-ties and political enemies were held and murdered. A total of 15,000 children under the age of ?fteen were interned in the ghetto between 1942 and 1944. Fewer than 100 survived.

The Theresienstadt camp knew many artists, writers and scholars, among them the renowned female artist Friedl Dicker-Brandeis. She conducted drawing classes for the camp’s children, helping them to en-dure the harsh reality of their uprooted lives. When Friedl Dicker-Brandeis was deported to the death camp of Auschwitz in 1944, she left behind her two suitcases containing more than 4000 children’s drawings. Today the children’s paintings are part of the Collection of the Jewish Museum in Prague.
